I've got a late '70's 15hp motor on my sailboat and I recent got myself an auto tiller for the boat. This is a pretty cool device that will allow me to step away from tiller read a book, have some food, do whatever while the boat is under sail. What it could ALSO do is self steer when motor is...
Well, many will automatically say that your CDI is defective from a previous overheat condition and needs to be replaced. It's an expensive part so if it's possible to borrow a test unit I'd try that. However, if it overheated, I'd either remove the thermostat altogether or replace it to make...
if you still have spark on the other, just take a tester and compare continuity results for each component right back to the condenser (including the plug itself). If that reveals nothing, then I'd replace the condenser and points to start.
Nothing will come apart. It's just a friction screw. I think I may have an extra one of those that I can send to you if you run out of options. I'm in Toronto.

I’ve seen some videos suggesting installing a telltale right on top of the thermostat housing which I’m not a huge fan off - anyone see any concerns with...
That doesn’t make any sense. The parts on the stator plate should fit back on nicely and snuggly. Dumb question, are you sure you’ve got the sensor coil on the right way around? If it’s the same sensor coil and the same stator plate you’ve put something on incorrectly or you are using the wrong...
Working on this 25hp triple (1996). Actually, really no longer working on it because it’s now running fine.
Compression is 110/110/115 which I find to be on the low side of acceptable. There are signs the engine did overheat previously: whiteness / paint chipping at seam of head and block. If...
The Oracle (Racerone) knows, Michael. But based on what you are describing, me thinks you need to first pull carb, take apart and soak parts for 24-48hrs in your favourite toxic substance (ex paint thinner) paying special attention to condition of bowl, float, needle and needle passages. Finish...
