Hi Guys
My 20 has a 2nd brand new carb on it but I'm having initial start issues with it. The previous carb (that gummed up while I has in hospital) worked very well
and started on the first key turn. With the new carb it will not start on the first key turn and I have to wait around 15 seconds...
Thanks JGMO
Sadly it stalls too quickly the first time but I haven't tried it yet by lifting the lever slightly and then doing a first start. Yep it idles nicely
after it's warm so I'll leave that where it is. Having bought TWO new carbs already I'm very aware of stale fuel issues so even if I...
Hi JGMO
If I open the throttle lever a bit it runs better so maybe I need to just adjust the idle screw a bit? The 12 v I mentioned was the feed to the autochoke and fuel is fresh. On the second attempt to start the motor is fine and warms up perfectly it's purely the fact that it takes a...
Hi Guys
My motor is running well with a new carb but although it starts on the first key turn it splutters and dies so I need to restart it and on the 2nd
try it also starts instantly and doesn't stall but the auto choke manages to keep it running and after that it gets smoother and smoother...
Hi JGMO
Correct assumption .. I had a spare kill switch (our big cat had Honda 50's so I had spare kill switches) Didn't bother to check the wiring at the motor and just opened the remote case and snipped off the black red cable on the switch and the motor started instantly! Hopefully now I...
On the rear of my motor there are two molex plugs easy to get to. Is the kill circuit on the top plug or bottom plug?
Would it be a good idea to release the plugs and give the plug/socket assembly a good squirt of WD 40??? or are they
pretty reliable. My remote has a kill switch with a plastic...
Thank You!!! I was hoping to trace the cable coming from the remote so I didn't have to dis-assemble the remote box.. should be easier to measure on the motor.
Forgot to ask ..does anyone know the kill switch color code cables when they get to the motor ..it would be a lot easier to check with a multimeter at the motor than try and strip the remote housing ..if there is no continuity even with the clip on the kill switch then the remote housing will...
Thanks again JGMO .. The boat was used by my neighbour to move a houseboat and was perfect until he got his grubby paws on it and was bumping the houseboat into "position" and using high revs and generally being rough so last time he will use it!!!! Nope fuel is fresh and it was starting first...
Hi Guys
I had to buy a new carb (2nd one now) as I let the other one sit for nearly a year with fuel in the float chamber so it gummed up.
Put a brand new carb onto the motor from Honda last weekend and actually used the boat to push and shove a houseboat around
into a new pen with no issue...
Hi JGMO
With it's 2nd new carb my 20 went thru a tough initiation yesterday moving a 10m houseboat that had engine issues (Yamaha!) Performed very well but I was noticing that although it starts on first touch from cold it did stall (but restarted again by me) as the auto choke when thru it's...
Spent some time with the tech at Honda Marine locally and it seems that you cannot get the older fancy o-ring that seals the float chamber cover. The sales manager looked up my details and saw I bought a carb from them in 2004 so he offered me a brand new one for $199 so I decided to rather put...
OK so far so good
I have done two cleaning cycles of 10 minutes with the cleaner temp at 40 -50 degrees C The first two were done with diluted CLR with water with a 4:1 ratio (that's 4 parts water and 1 part CLR of course. My "neighbour" says for normal cleaning on his little 3.5hp motor he...
Hi Guys
Sorry about those who are fighting with 20D carbs!! I have exhausted my supply of carb cleaner so I was about to try and clean the tiny passages under the float chamber with all your suggestions when my neighbour came over and said "The only way to clear those passages is with an...
Thanks for that!!! Yep I would guess that those tunnels are partially clogged. I did try your trick of squirting carb cleaner into the float chamber drain tube and left it overnight ... when it dies the fuel line bulb is hard which should mean the float chamber is full but if the passages are...
