Hi Guys
I had to buy a new carb (2nd one now) as I let the other one sit for nearly a year with fuel in the float chamber so it gummed up.
Put a brand new carb onto the motor from Honda last weekend and actually used the boat to push and shove a houseboat around
into a new pen with no issue except a stall once when it was cold ..then perfect with lots of power. I left it on Sunday thru to today Wednesday
so was about to give the motor a quick run and it will not start at all now ...Fuel bulb remains hard so the float chamber is full but a series of cranks (around 5 seconds each) the starter cranks fine but the motor doesn't even try to fire.

Where do I start looking??

Sorry you're having troubles.
You need to find what's missing.

Meaning spark or fuel.

Does it have spark when cranking?

If it has spark then you need to introduce artificial fuel. I use propane for that because it's easier and safer than sloshing gasoline around. Propane is already a gas so doesn't need to be atomized then vaporized to burn. It's fuel to air burn ratio is veey close to gasoline's so it's ready to go in the cylinders as soon as it sees a spark. Engines run on it (think forklifts) all the time.

This sounds like it could be spark related so check usual suspect....kill switch.

If you have spark, then look at fuel.
Where do you get and store your fuel? Is it clean? Is it volatile?

Pour a small amount on concrete and see how it burns. They sell fuel testing kits too. If you're not sure but doing a burn sample from two different sources usually tells the tale.

Thanks again JGMO .. The boat was used by my neighbour to move a houseboat and was perfect until he got his grubby paws on it and was bumping the houseboat into "position" and using high revs and generally being rough so last time he will use it!!!! Nope fuel is fresh and it was starting first touch so I have a feeling the cabling from the remote to the motor might have a problem ..he was being very rough on the control too. Either that or the kill switch has been damaged!! Will check it today but it seems like that's the issue!

Forgot to ask ..does anyone know the kill switch color code cables when they get to the motor ..it would be a lot easier to check with a multimeter at the motor than try and strip the remote housing ..if there is no continuity even with the clip on the kill switch then the remote housing will need to be pulled to pieces and check whether it's the actual kill switch that's faulty or the cabling between the remote and the motor which WAS under water before I bought the boat (had to already replace battery cables that had been eaten away!
 
Black with red stripe, should be open circuit with clip in. Try pumping throttle a few times to prime, those cold start thermal valves can be tempramental
 
Thank You!!! I was hoping to trace the cable coming from the remote so I didn't have to dis-assemble the remote box.. should be easier to measure on the motor.
 
On the rear of my motor there are two molex plugs easy to get to. Is the kill circuit on the top plug or bottom plug?
Would it be a good idea to release the plugs and give the plug/socket assembly a good squirt of WD 40??? or are they
pretty reliable. My remote has a kill switch with a plastic nut so it could come off if there is enough cable slack ...easy to
check the switch with and without the clip.

Correct assumption .. I had a spare kill switch (our big cat had Honda 50's so I had spare kill switches) Didn't bother to check the wiring at the motor and just opened the remote case and snipped off the black red cable on the switch and the motor started instantly! Hopefully now I can use the motor for longer than repairing it!!!
