    Mercury 20 HP , Idles too high, timing or carb adjust

    I have a 1980 Mercury 20 HP, tiller handle Model 200. It idles too high to put in gear. Could the timing be to Advanced , I see no way to adjust idle speed on carb. I'm not sure of the correct timing for this model. Cranks right up.

    20 HP Mercury electric start. No stationary timing mark?

    I have tried every forum for Mercury on this issue. This electric start 20 HP has no recoil frame, therefore no stationary timing mark. The rotating Flywheel has 2 stamped marks, but no where is there a stationary pointer on engine. Does anyone know a location to place timing light to. Again...

    20 HP 1980 Mercury, pulled flywheel with 8 bolts without hub marked, how to postion correctly?

    I made the mistake of pulling the flywheel with 8 bolts that hold hub and flywheel together. Now I'm not sure how to position the flywheel on hub in correct position. (Stupid mistake). Any help please. Also there is no timing pointer on this motor but the flywheel is marked with 3 dots and a...
