If I have a known good Tachometer gauge and power from the ign wire and the signal wire but doesnt work when connected and installed what else could be going on?
I'm suspecting a false overheat issue on my 2003 4 stroke 40 hp I have good water flow coming out. Their are 2 temp sensors a IAT- Intake Air Temp and a CHT- Cylinder Head Temp sensor, have any idea which one is more likely the culprit?

On a recent trip with my 1991 100 Mariner, I had a constant alarm coming in. Oil was good and water appeared to be flowing strong out the exit tube. Went on for about three days of boat use and then suddenly quit, go figure.
