Tachometer

If I have a known good Tachometer gauge and power from the ign wire and the signal wire but doesnt work when connected and installed what else could be going on?

Does it have a good ground on the gauge?

The signal wire will not be a steady voltage, it see's pulses of voltage. Can you get a loaner hand held Tach from a local auto parts store

Thats correct I had variable voltage readings from the signal wire with increase in engine speed. I will look into the handheld
