Got it, I plan on checking plugs and coil packs before next season…
does an O2 sensor fault stay stored on the ECM and therefore forces the ECM to stay the fail safe ‘open loop’ mode , even with new sensor installed? Or does the fault erase when the ECM determines the issue is gone?
UPDATE! So, I went and pulled the O2 sensor and it was completely corroded away. Just replaced it and the motor is still running a bit choppy at idle…
Do I NEED to clear the O2 fault codes for the ECM to recognize the new one and start building new maps?
Just an update: still haven’t gotten time to dig into the idle issue, just been enjoying it for the summer. I found a YouTube video (not mine) but it very exactly represents what my motor does. Runs fine, then stutters and shakes like that, then back to normal. (not quite as bad as the really...
I have not checked it, but that seems like the next easiest thing to check. If fuel pressure reads stable and as expected, should mean everything from there back is functioning in the fuel line up (in theory). I’m a little bit stumped on the service manual guidelines for checking/adjusting idle...
So did some work this past week and weekend. Starting issue is solved. Battery switch was junk, and cable ends going to it were also junk. Replaced the terminals with new, new switch, starts right up like it should. End of this season I’m going to replace the entire bonded cable that comes with...
I’ll keep this post updated as I troubleshoot things throughout this next week.
Also fighting a sluggish starting issue.. very odd. Brand new batteries, newer starter within the last few years. Happens at random haven’t noticed a pattern yet, but occasionally when I go to start it, it will...
If I had an active fault, I was under the impression the buzzer would sound each time it’s started? (Separate from initial ‘key is on’ buzzer) Other issue I need to fix to pull codes is that ALL of my lights including the MIL have burnt bulbs… which I just found the right parts diagram for...
Hey all, have been reading this forum for a while now. I have an 06 225 and have been having idle issues for a while now. Sometimes it will idle smoothly, but randomly will start shaking and sputter. Almost sounds like it’s misfiring. Similar noise to how a car with a big cam sounds, loping. It...
