    That looks like a needle bearing, in which case the housing is stationary and the shaft runs in it, so I'm safe. Manual: yeah, I really should have one. I suppose that's how I ended up here. I usually find a pdf download for most of my other machines, got a tip on where I might look one up...

    Got it, and thank you! Here's a pretty pivotal couple of questions: I have the seals out, I polished the shaft nicely, I think we'll be okay. BUT: the first steel collar on the prop shaft behind the seals is NOT turning with the shaft. Is that a bearing inner race, or just a stationary bushing...

    There is a separate casting just before the prop on my lower unit, presumably to facilitate removing the prop seals for replacement. I pulled the two bolts and got it to move a tiny tiny bit left and right by tapping on it. It really does NOT want to go anywhere, especially out and off the...

    Got a test procedure for me for that Primestart? Is that the device on the top with an electrical pigtail? Or is that just a choke? It's so lifeless I expect to find a big booger in the jets, but it ran fine up to last oct when I pulled it out.

    The oil level is halfway on the crosshatch section so it will need a little more but unless there's a low oil switch that cuts fuel, that ain't it. Also: a little fuel shot in the intake makes it fire. Is there a solenoid on top of that carb not opening, or something like that, because all the...
