1985 3L

Trying to find out if 1985 3 L block and a 1994
3 L block are the same? I need to put put the 1985 head on the 94 block. Thank you in advance. Kirk.

Blocks are different, 85 uses 2 piece rear main seal, 94 uses 1 piece.

Heads are different too but use same gasket. I believe the later heads have different porting & possible valve sizes.

So the 94 manifold & gasket will probably bolt up but. BUT you may need to determine if the gasket is a good fit.

Expect a bit lower performance with the earlier head.

Compare all aspects as you go.
