1986 9.9hp fuel adapter help

Hello,

I am a new mercury outboard owner. Its a 1986 9.9hp.

My motor didn't come with a tank or fuel line. I am looking for a 3/8 hose barb to engine side adapter to attach to a fuel line. The motor has an "old style" straight fuel connector. I can only find engine side adapters that fit 98 and newer motors. Do they still make ones for the old style connectors or do I have to get a "new style" 90 degree connector that fits newer fuel lines?

Thanks for the help,

Bill

So I assume you have the connector #8 on your engine & you need the hose end to clip on.
Mercury/Quicksilver part # 22-13563Q3 but that is technically according to Mercury Marine 5/16"
OR
Sierra 18-80410-1 which is according to Sierra 3/8 but interchanges with the Mercury #.
Go figure.....
You certainly do not need anything for them 5/16" for that little motor but if you already have 3/8" hose, bulb & tank end.....

Yes, I need the hose end to clip on the motor. 3/8 hose barb is best I already have the primer bulb.

There are two #8 connectors in the diagram. On the motor I have part number #8 — 14187M — FUEL CONNECTOR (STRAIGHT) (OLD DESIGN).

I am hesitant to order the Sierra 18-80410-1. The listing states that it is for motors 1999 and up. I tried a Bass Pro Shop adapter that was for 1999 and up motors. I didn't work.

Did Mercury change the fuel line to engine connecters in the mid to late 80s?
