    Thermostat parts

I have re-assembled the housing now, so I can run the boat. The parts were ordered from my local marina here in Canada, they are genuine Mercury parts. Does it harm the motor to run at 110-120 degrees?

    Thermostat parts

if I can ever find the right parts, I'll buy a 140* thermostat. With no stat in it, the motor barely gets to 120*.

    Thermostat parts

that's where I did get the part numbers from, and the parts don't fit! And no, I cleaned out the housing with sandpaper, until it was shiny steel. None of the parts I ordered came close to fitting. And I don't run in salt water, strictly in cold fresh water.

    Thermostat parts

I searched for a plate by the starter and on the bellhousing. I couldn't find one.

    Thermostat parts

I've read on a few different sites that the 160* stat will bring the temp closer to what the engines run better at, and give slightly better fuel economy. Remember, automotive stats are 180-195*.

    Thermostat parts

There is actually a serial number sticker on the port valve cover, but the number is gone. When I cool off a bit, I'll go have a look by the starter for a plate.

I don't have an engine serial number, all I have is the drive number. Which corresponds to the parts I looked up

    Thermostat Gaskets

Jack, do you have any idea what purpose the small round brass grommets on the bottom gasket serve? Are they supposed to act like drain holes of some sort? Where they meet up with the intake manifold the holes are plugged up.

    Thermostat Gaskets

Hi. I'm installing a new thermostat onto my 1988 5.7. When I took it apart, there was no thermostat, and no gaskets, just RTV sealant. I'm wondering if I need to use any sort of gasket sealer on the new gaskets. I have all the parts, thermostat (160 degrees), gaskets, O ring, and the plastic...

    What Generation Alpha

I did go through the host site, but I could not find a listing for the water pump kit. I did find a Sierra water pump kit on Amazon, which I ordered. The part number for the kit is 18-3320. Also, being in Canada means that I face longer delivery times for parts ordered from Marine Engine, as...

    Primary Metering Rod Retainer Spring

I have ordered a new one from E Bay. I did price them out at other dealers, but the shipping was crazy for such a small item. BTW, I'm in Canada.

    Primary Metering Rod Retainer Spring

I'm wondering how critical this part is? I took my Rochester carb apart for cleaning and a rebuild, and this spring is totally bent out of shape. Can I run the carb without it?

    Alpha One remote controls

Sorry. He cut the trim wires long enough that they run to the front of the engine. I can't find any buried in the side of the boat with all the other wires. I'll just splice into them using heat shrink tubing.

    Alpha One remote controls

He didn't cut the switch wires in the handle, he just had the pins going into the wrong terminals.
