    You have a grinder or Dremel? Square off the edges and reinstall. Some dogs, you can flip them around and have a good mating surface. Post a pic?? When shifting(from now on) put it firmly into gear, slow will wear down the edges.

    AHHHH, the little things that screw you up!!! Glad it's better. Like I had said earlier, these 3cyl, 1 carb weren't the best engineered out there. One problem was the top cylinder lacked lubrication and would score. One thing you might add a couple ounces of oil more to the fuel.

    The batteries from Auto Zone or Advance Auto(Die Hard) will work. When I moved to Fl. in 2008 my boat 1988 Bayliner 21ft. twin 85hp. No room for any more batteries. I ran both motors off the 2 batteries and a good switch. I had Wallyworld batteries, twin 850CCA they lasted almost 10 years 3...

    Your motor according to the model# is a 1973. They upgraded from a 12 vane to the 6 vane you removed. The 12 would cost 25$ if you could find it. Sounds like they use a pump from a newer motor. Could be a pump from a 50hp mid 80's WATER PUMP IMPELLER F433065-2 Maybe???
