‘57 18 h.p. Evinrude Fastwin question

When I start it in my barrel it really smokes and leaves oily residue in wtr is this normal ?

Normal.----Even more so at 24:1 for that 57 model.

So that’s 24 parts gas to oil ?
Or other way round ?

I doubt it would run with 24 parts oil to 1 part gas !!
