Ok out on water. Motor was running fine. Switched over tanks....(NOTE: These are medal tanks & electric gear shaft).... Motor starts right up but all on a sudden would not power up instead no matter how much throttle would not speed up BUT instead sometimes power up and then down in spurts. No fuel leaks and don't see any problems when quick check of wiring. If I put in neutral would rev up but when back in gear problem persists. Was just able to get back to dock.

HELP!!

Typical story. Running on one cylinder. The other one cuts in and out occasionally giving you those spurts of power.

Gap on plugs where they should be. I was just wondering now if the gas tank valve is going bad. Your thoughts?

The question is ----Will spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more.----That has nothing to do with the sparkplug or the gap on your sparkplugs.----Find or make a spark testing device !

OK will do. Just thought since it ran for 6 hours with no problem and only happened AFTER I changed over fuel tanks that might have been a tank problem as I said in original question.

Thank you again. Will check sparks

Was the tank empty ?------Did you think it ran out of fuel ?----Water in the fuel ?-----Ruptured fuel pump diaphragm ?-----It should be easy to find the issue here.

Just tried tonight on spark . The jump was not 1/4" on either one on a home made tester to see if spark would jump that far. Store bought to see spark was ok but not as bright again on bottom plug. The bottom plug with tester showed a lighter spark than top. Coils and wires were changed last year but not the points and condensers. Got to dark to check gap on points and condition of them. Will look tomorrow.

I checked coils. One had a nick in wire. After repair decided to change point and condenser. Took a reading off coils. Primary sides both show .001 and on secondary sides my readings on both again to plugs 1.970
Also changed out sparkplugs ends of wires

Are these acceptable can't find anything on measurement
All parts are new
