All was well until yesterday

All was well until yesterday when i was out fishing. The engine coughed a few times and then won't respond to pushing the throttle into high speed. It sounded like it was starving for gas but ideled ok. Just won't push the boat faster than low speed.
Today i checked the fuel filter. It was clean. Got new gas. Changed the plugs but do not know what gap should be. Guessed a gap of 0.032.

Any help would be appreciated.

" Hey Frank...
Try this:
Squeeze the primer bulb until it is hard...while holding this, run the boat to to the speed you want...if this works, then your fuel pump has either gone bad or rhe screen in the pump itself is clogged..on the fuel pump loosen the thumb screw, and remove the screen behind it and clean it if dirty...if not dirty, try the hard bulb again, and if the engine runs ok then...replace the pump....TommyG "

i checked the screen and it was clean. i will try the bulb test tomorrow and let you know. i am wondering if there is a high speed fuel injector for the carburator that may have gotten clogged. Not sure if there is such a device in the carb.
