I've got a 1978 Johnson 35EL78R with a bad cylinder. Engine overheated and cylinders are now scored up pretty badly. I was going to rebuild, but it looks cheaper to buy a used powerhead with good compression off eBay. Are the later year powerheads compatible with this model? I've looked thru pictures and almost everything looks the same like it should just bolt right on. The powerhead I'm looking at is a 1986-1989 E30ECDW. Literally everything s the same except the casting pattern for where the water tube goes but the one I have should definitely still fit.
