1978 Mercury Control bx.

Does anybody know how to get one of these apart? I want to work on the trim tilt switch.

I reread your post.To remove the unit from the panel,there are two nuts, 3/8" I think, behind the panel that need to be removed and the controls should fall out,well maybe not.
If all you want to do is work on the trim switch,there are two small phillips screws hold it in to the handle

Remove the wire clip that holds cover on around the warm up button in center of handle then remove the 3 phillips screws and remove handle. The wiring goes thru the 3 screws.
