How do you adjust the fuel intake(reduce)
I just bought the boat. It seems to idle a bit high. It runs in the driveway just fine.
I have taken it to the water once. When I did it never seemed to open up, as if it were getting too much fuel.
Since then I have changed the plugs, not taken it back to the water yet.

Thanks

No fuel adjustments on those carburetors -------------------Most motors " sound great " in the driveway to many boat owners, and it means nothing.------------I suggest a compression test on that motor.---------------Look into the carburetors when it is running ( strong flashlight ) and look for a leaking carburetor !

I did a compression test about 2 weeks ago. All four cycl were very close to one another. I do not remember the exact numbers but I believe they were between 115 and 120 psi.
What kind of a leak am I to be looking for. From where to where? Out of jets or to the outside of the carb?
THanks

OK--------------In this case try it with the motor stopped then squeeze the bulb and see what happens.----See if fuel leaks anywhere and find out if the bulb goes hard !

I just squeezed the bulb like you said. The first squeeze, I could hear fuel shoot into the carbs. After about 2-3 times it did not hear it in the carbs anymore. The bulb got hard where I could not pump anymore. I was playing yesterday in the driveway with it running. While running you can not see fuel shooting out of the brass tube in the front of the carb, the ones that are pointing forward. Not shooting out but fuel is running out toward the front of air intake where the choke flappers are (I'm sorry I don't know tech names). When I would by hand open the brass valves you could see the fuel be sucked back in the carbs. If it were to sit and idle for a while I would have fuel dripping out the front.

I did a day or two ago take the carbs off and just blow them out. They were not gummed up, the gaskets seemed to be good. Floats not stuck, over all seemed clean.

Could it be that they are just worn out?

Thanks

I just forgot to mention. The engine does not have an airintake cover. When you take the cowl off you look right into the carbs.
1. Will this make a hugh difference in tring to open it up on the water.
2. I will need to find one, one web site I was looking at said they were no longer availible.

You need the cover for those carburetors !!----Should be lots of used ones available.-----------Do you have spark that will jump a gap of 7/16" on all 4 with a snap that you can hear ??---------------Did you actually remove the high speed orifice ( jet ) in the bottom of the float bowls to clean them.????? There are 4 of them and they must be spotlessly clean.---------Do you have the correct propeller for the boat and is the boat in good condition ????
