So my engine starts great, first or second pull cold and when its warm you just need to pull the rope a little bit and it jumps to life. My issue with it now is that I feel like it responds to the throttle a little slowly and boggs a little bit. When I pull the spark leads the engine will keep running on the bottom cylinder when I pull the top but wont keep running when I pull the bottom so I was thinking that maybe the top coil is a bit weak. Would that be a reasonable assumption?
At full throttle it seems to run clean but it needs a while to ramp up to full rpm even without load (in a bucket).
Carb has been cleaned and adjusted correctly recently.

Check reed valves-----And does spark jump a gap of 3/8", yes or no ?-------Does primer bulb go hard when you operate it ?

Engine has been recently renovated so reeds have been checked and adjusted, it has new seals all around including the crankcase, bulb goes hard when pumped, venting screw is open on the tank, fuel pump has been rebuilt. The only thing I haven't checked is that jumping a certain gap thing, I've only had a spark tester on it which shows a bulb sparking away.

Reason I thought about weak coil is that when i pull the bottom sparklead I almost always get a jolt, but nothing from the top when I do the same, I got my finger on the trigger for two new coils. Thought I'd confirm that that's the issue, I assume the only way to test them is to do this spark jump test?

edit: I should add that when I add the spark tester inbetween the lead and the sparkplug head the issue becomes more pronounced, I was thinking that maybe the increased resistance further reduced the strength of the spark which again leads me to believe the coils are weak?

So if the spark can't jump that gap it means either the plug wire is bad, the coil or when both plugs cant jump the gap the stator might have an issue, correct?

??-----There is one charge coil under the flywheel.----It is used to fire both coils.-----There is one sensor coil under the flywheel.----It is used in firing both coils.-----More trouble shooting / research on your motor is required.
