1982 Evinrude 70HP Idle Timing?

Hi All,

Just getting the boat ready for the season and Outboard was running rough, turned out some crap in the Cabs cleared that out and seems to be running ok now.

Question is what is the Idle timing meant to be for the motor im intending to do the John reeves is it timing method. but as i had the timing light setup i tested it just ticking over it seems like top cylinder spark is about here on the flywheel. where the timing pointer is on the photo

is this about right?

The service manual says this i take it that is the point the cam follower start to move the carb plates open?

You don't care about idle timing. That takes care of itself.
