I have owned this Procraft since 2004 until 2022. It always sputtered and smoked in reverse, but never a problem in forward. I found out it had a hole in one piston in 2014. I was told it was shot and get rid of it. I kept it. It would still run 60 mph. I went to the lake dozen's of times riding up and down the lake at 40mph for two to three hours. Anyway, I contacted mercury and was told the engine ran on all cylinders forward and reverse. I don't understand how this is possible. Why wouldn't I have a problem in forward with a hole in a piston. There was no smoke running forward. I couldn't find anything on the internet about this.
