i messed up, started pulling the lower unit on my boat, i failed to pull the screw all the way out, after realizing it i finished removing it, but had dropped the lower unit down some, so think i probably screwed up the setting of the shift rod. Had seen on this forum, lenth 22 1/16 and xtra long 27 1/16, and how to measure it, but how do i know which length is correct for my engine? i dont have a manual. any help is appreciated.
