" Hello All,
I replace the water pump on the engine and when I took it to the water for a test run the water from the indicator came out vary weak at idle and then not at all when I throtled up. There was no horn warning for overheating.

Is there a way to make sure the horn is working correctly I just purchased the boat.

Also I was able to engage the trans into reverse and turn the drive shaft while I had the lower off. When I had it in the water and shifted to Rev I got nothing? Any Ideas on that would be helpful.

Lots of thankd in Advance

"Chris.... If you want to test the heat warning system, have the key in the on position, then ground out the tan heat sensor wire that you'll find protruding from the cylinder head. The warning horn should sound off.

Also, when you had the lower unit off, if you turned that shift rod at all, the shift is now out of adjustment. The measurement (in neutral) from the surface of the lower unit to the center of the hole in the top of the shift rod must be one of the following depending on the shaft length.

1986 - 90 thru 110hp = (L) 21-27/32" - - (XL)26-27/32" plus/minus 1/32". Have shift rod in neutral
