My 40 HP EPLTO lost spark all the sudden while tuning the carbs. I checked the kill switch and that is working now I'm on to the ignition.
First question is the stator, I do NOT have the red/redwhite wires going to the powerbox, only the Blue/bluewhite. I have the red stator that goes from the stator to the stator adapter (green/greenwhite) then through the adaptor and Blue/bluewhite to the powerbox. It has 680 ohm resistance and according to the cdi chart that reads good. I don't have the dva yet to test voltage but want to clear this question up before doing anything else.
IF the stator is bad, can it be replaced with the standard one instead of the red one and eliminate the adaptor? It appears the powebox is the same for both to me.
I'm actually leaning towards the powerbox being bad, as soon as I have the dva I can test the trigger and stator volts and find out for sure. I hope to locate one today at a local electrical shop, but we'll see if they have one when they open later.
Thoughts and experience is appreciated.
