1993 6 HP conversion to 8 HP?

I have an Evinrude 6hp and heard I can replace the carb or jets in the carb and convert it to an 8hp. Is this true? Has anyone done it? What parts need to be replaced?

There is a bit more to it than just the carburetor.( urban myth # 1 in outboard land )------------------Look it up on------------- shop.evinrude.com------------you may find that the 8 has more reeds and an additional plate on the exhaust cover as well.

I looked the possibility for a slightly older model

Not only different carbs, manifolds and reed plates but a different crankcase and cylinder

As above check the whole lot out on the parts lists or you may well be disappointed

I think for 1993 models the manifolds and reed plates may not be different but the crankcase/cylinder assemblies are!

You are better off selling the 6 hp and shop for a higher HP motor. Less work
