1998 50hp 2 carburetor float adjustment measurement

I'm rebuilding the two carburetors on my 1998 J50tslecc outboard. I don't have the OMC float adjustment gauge part #324891. If someone has a gauge, I would much appreciate the 25hp - 75hp measurement. I purchased my rebuild kits here at MarineEngine.com but they show the gauge as unavailable.

Thanks in advance,
TGK

Basically you turn the carburetor upside down.----Float should be even / parallel with carburetor body>---------And parts are well made these days, rarely do floats need to be adjusted.

I rebuilt both carbs. One of the new floats is close to level when held upside down. The other hangs low on the side opposite the needle valve. I'll tweak this one up to level. Thanks

About the only thing that goes wrong with carburetors is dirt / gumming from sitting with fuel in them.-----------What was your motor doing / not doing ?

I just purchased the engine. It wasn't idling well at all. The slow speed adjustment was set at 5 turns on each carb. The book says 3 1/2 turns to start with. I'm in Colorado living at about 7,000 ft elevation.

I tried to adjust the slow speed adjustment without any luck, so I decided to rebuild the carbs and make sure they were clean. They actually seemed pretty decent inside.

I'll reinstall them tomorrow and see if the cleaning helped. I would think that I may end up less than 3 1/2 turns do to the altitude.

Thanks,
TGK
