2 cycle mix

How many of you all fill the tank with fuel and then add the proper amount of oil after ? Will it mix well enough? Currently I put oil in a 5 gallon container and fill the container and then dump inboard tank

Used to be 3 gallons, 1/2 pint of oil, then 3 gallons 1/2 pint of oil then 6 gallons, pint of oil for a 12 gallon tank. Hit the brakes a couple of times on the way to the ramp, mixed! I always had a outboard motor mixer at 2.6 oz. per gallon at 50/1.
