Im reposting this again still looking for any help at all! My 2000 Johnson 150 outboard (J150PLSIG) runs perfectly at wide open throttle until I make run about 8-10 min then it will shut off completely. Dosent sputter it just cuts off as if you have cut the key off. It will not crank back unless I hold the key over into the start position. As long as I hold the key in the start position it will run but if I let go of it and let the switch go into the on position it will cut right back off. First time this happened I started trolling back to the boat ramp and about 15-20 min later I tried to start again and it ran perfectly fine and I couldn’t make it shut down any more. Next trip out I did the same thing. Called a local boat mechanic while I was in the water and he suggested that I unplug the harness going to the power pack and it fired right up I just couldn’t cut it off. I plugged the pack back in and it continued to run and I was able to cut it off with the key. Now I’m having a hard time narrowing down where the issue is. Is it the power pack itself (probably only 3 years old) or is in the switch/kill switch which I have also replaced recently. Or is it something totally different. PLEASE HELP! Sorry for the long post just wanted to give all the info I could.
