2001 90hp 2 stroke.fuel issue.

What about it?

Have you read your owner's manual with respect to Primestart?

Automatic fuel enrichment device. When the motor is cold the Primestart is cold. Allows extra fuel to the motor to facilitate a start. Once the motor is running the motor will be warming up on its own and the Primestart will be warming up due to electricity being fed to the device from the alternator. Once the motor and the Primestart component is warmed up no more extra gasoline will be supplied via the Primestart component.

There is a switch to force the Primestart ON and Off. That is, taking it out of the automatic mode.

Your location ?----Model # of the motor ?----Perhaps you want to install a Johnson / Evinrude electric primer valve.----Simple conversion in my opinion.

Thank you for the reply! I'm very familiar with the prime start. I've tested it for resistance.
Bench tested it with 12 volt supply and the plunger doesn't move.

How long did you wait?

Will the motor start normally cold when the Primestart device is turned to the Open position?

I waited about 10 minutes, I'm in Florida and it's 90 degrees here! Shouldn't take that long?
Yes I know I can run it on the emergency position but I want to get it right.

Thanks I'll check that out for future reference. I was able to get an OME one. I'm going to have to look inside one of those soon! I checked the omes and they are inspecs. Do you know what makes them fail?

Yumbo is a Japanese supplier, they have OEM parts for Yamaha, Honda, etc. They do have parts out of stock at dealers, plus cheaper prices. But you pay shipping from Japan.
I hang out mainly on the Honda forum, it seems many over there have used Yumbo.

I’m working on a friend’s 2007 2 stroke 15hp Yamaha, US$426 at Crowley but out of stock, $250 at Yumbo, but I found a new Chinese one for $10 on Amazon, free shipping. What have I got to lose? It’s worth trying?
