Hi there!
I have a Johnson 50HP Outboard
Serial: BJ50VLSIB
having some big trim mechanism issues
taken it to a marine mechanic who could not solve the problem also
- it will not hold pressure and drops down instantly when lifted
- makes no attempt to raise the engine when the up switch is held, it does make noise and acutates when holding up or down
- when raised it drops right to the bottom at a fairly reasonable pace (5 seconds to get down)
- if you hold the trim up switch when it drops, it slows the dropping
Replaced/fixed:
- Piston Seals and rings, verified on correct by the mechanic
- Pressure Release valve tight and o-ring in good condition
- bled the air from the line and has plenty of fluid
any ideas on the issues we could be having? its getting frustating and we are stuck for options without spending a large sum of money replacing the trim system.
