2004 Johnson 150 Spark Advance Linkage Sticking

I've got an '04 Bombardier 150 with a sticky spark advance link. When coming off the throttle it likes to hang and not follow the throttle linkage back to it's home. Usually it'll stop just short of being fully released. Now traditionally on older models it sounded like the advance mechanism had brass rings that the linkage rode on underneath the stator. This model has the optical sensor.

When the spark advance link gets moved by the throttle link, and the optical sensor is rotated about the timing wheel, is that the only thing that advances timing? Or is there something else going on beneath, just like with the older models? I was originally under the impression I'd have to tear the flywheel and stator off to remedy the sticking link, but now I'm thinking I just have to lubricate the plastic collar support for the sensor. The red marks show where I'm talking about lubricating.

Little update here and to bump the post. This model doesn't incorporate a timer base in the same way as the older models or adjacent crossflow models do. Optical sensor handles it on the that sensor support up top. Therefore, it looks like there is no reason to tear into the flywheel and stator to fix this issue.

I tried adding some silicone grease to the bearing surface of the collar. It improved, but a small gap is left from being fully closed still. The silicone grease feels a little too tacky possibly, any oil/grease recommendations?
