2004 Mercury 50hp 4stroke EFI won't accelerate.

2004 Mercury 50hp 4stroke EFI
Motor starts up and idles fine. Put it in gear at idle and it takes off at about 2mph like it always has. No issues until I attempt to accelerate. Then it acts like it wants to go for maybe one second before it starts to bog down and eventually die unless I bring the throttle back to an idle. A new in line gas filter didn't fix it and the gas in the tank is only a month old. Little more than 100 hours on it now and this is the first and only problem I've had since purchasing it new in 2004. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Assuming the vent is working correctly on your fuel tank. It could be a lift pump issue. Not supplying enough fuel vst.

Now I do believe inside the vst tank, there is a float. Like in a carburetor. It meters the amount the lift pump supplies .

If all else fails. Start from scratch. Do a compression test, the check ignition, bright blue spark, at the spark plugs. Then check fuel. Maybe you have water in your tank.,?
