Hi new to Forum, I have a 2005 4.3L in my bow-rider, it is EFI with 208hrs on it. Last week I was out 3 times different days and ran the boat about an hour each time let boat sit for about an hour. The boat ran fine during the hour it ran but after sitting it didn't want to run. It would start & quit right away or I'd try to give it fuel it would backfire ,smell fuel but not want to run. I replaced the rotor cap & button after 1 first day, Did it the next day again so changed Crank sensor and it did it again, also changed Fuel filter separator. I then took it out of water & to dealer who says he can't look at it for at least a week. Again when cold it would start & run fine, even when it acted up if I let it sit over night it start and run fine. Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance.

Is the engine temp. stable or has it increased lately? Do you run the bilge blower all the time? You should. When was the last time the impeller was replaced? After running for an hour if you don't let it idle 5-10 mins. to cool down all of the residual heat in the engine compartment w/cook the fuel.

The Engine Temp. gauge is at its normal range of 175* no higher, I check my gauges regularly they all show normal marks . I don't leave the blower on but can if you recommend. It is just a 18' bow-rider, everyday last week I ran for at least an hour or more running fine. When I shut it off & kids go for a swim, etc.(about an hour) and try to start it it won't take throttle may idle rough for a minute smell fuel & quits, then won't start.

Re: 4.3 Mercruiser quits when warm

Does the 4.3 Mercruiser have a computer which can be read? When I talked to dealer he never answered that question. My mechanic friend thinks its electrical and told me to replaced the distributor cap & button, then crank sensor, now he thinks it may be a map sensor but says I should have engine read which he can't do. The boat serial# is a 2005 but the engine is likely an 2004 which I bought new in summer of 2004.

a computer which can be read?

It should have since it's MPI.

Try running the blower continuously and idle a few mins. after a hard run. A new cap and rotor can't hurt it.
