2006 Bf235 randomly stalled when trying to get on plane but start right back up

Hi all,
Happy Father’s Day!
I took the boat out yesterday and the boat stalled. It happened before but I thought I fixed it but not.

When I start it up then try to get on plane right away, the engine stalls when it gets to about 20-25mph (just up on plane).
If I start it up then run 2000-2500rpm for a minute then it can get on plane and run fine, I can run WOT after that.
I suspected it is fuel issue.
I already changed the high pressure fuel filter.
The fuel pump is it something you can change it yourself? Any suggestions what could be the fix for my issue above? Thanks

I would start with cleaning the VST, the hp pump screen, and checking the float valve.

They say the rubber gaskets are one time use. I've talked with my local Honda authorized mechanic, he said they can be re used. I replaced all mine, didn't want to risk it.

Thanks Codycat.
I will give the vst a clean.
I will Google where the hp pump screen and float valve locate. Haven’t clean or check them before. :)

I opened the lower cover and saw it, but the nuts are rusting so bad. It looks too hard to take it apart to clean. Anyone have done it before on the Honda bf225 2006 model yr?
Any good instructions? (I can’t find any videos for it)
Oh yesterday I replaced the fuel water separator filter, it’s extremely dirty as it seems previous owners didn’t take care it well.
Thanks.

It does sound like a fuel issue so I'd run it with the new water separator first to see it was that before digging into the VST.

Obvs change the low pressure filter as well and maybe give consideration to the fuel lines.

I have the same age engine and swap the external separator, filters every year and drain the VST - never had any crap or water out of the VST.

Thanks metal-chicken.
Take the boat out July 4 today and same thing happened.
I noticed the fuel primer bulb was soft and seems like no fuel in it. I squeezed it a few time then the bulb get harder and full of fuel, then the boat run fine.
Does the prime bulb supposed to be hard while running? What may cause the bulb so soft while idling? Any thoughts anyone? Thanks

Just a left field comment - several years ago someone posted a similar problem and the problem turned out to be that on initial power up, the fuel pickup in the tank was misplaced (or got moved) and was sucking air. A slow acceleration kept the pickup covered, but a sharp acceleration would uncover it. May be worth taking a look. Pulling the fuel pickup tube out of the tank is normally an easy process assuming you have a good access.

That sounds like the problem that i have.
I don’t know anything about fuel pick up tube. Lets me Google and check it out. Thanks

I want to post back for record that I think I solved the issue.
On the top of the fuel tank where the fuel line go to the engine, there is a L shape connector that has the anti siphon valve in there. I took the valve out then used a next size up of drill bit bored the hole a little bigger to take the ball and spring out (valve) then installed everything back.
I also start using non ethanol fuel as ethanol fuel will have water at bottom of tank which caused many issues. I will try to attach some pics hopes it help.

So far, I tested the boat 4-5 times in the past couple months and it runs awesome.

(tricks to unscrew the L connector is disconnected the line out to motor, use the adjustable wrench, one end on the valve, the other end use the rope tied to it then pull rope to turn the wrench as you don't have enough force to turn in that small hole.)

Tried to post pics again.
