2006 Honda 225hp powerhead and short block replacement

Q1 - We have a 2006 225hp Honda outboard that failed due to corrosion in the block - was going to replace the block (and whatever else necessary) but I have been told by a Honda dealer that the new replacement block for that engine is no longer sold by Honda as of about a year ago. I figure there must be some still out there in inventory. Does anyone has a line on one, or some info about the availability?

Q2 - What is the difference between model designation BF225 and BF225A?

I'm FAR from being an expert and I've never worked on a 225 Honda so keep that in mind.

But, according to www.boats.net the block assembly is available. See item 3 in the link below.


There are two models of the 225hp Honda:

The "A" model was apparently introduced in 2002

The "D" model was introduced in 2007

Hope this helps, it's all I can offer.

Others here ARE experienced with these outboards and may have better information.

Forgot to say that, as far as I know, boats.net sells pretty much all parts that are still offered by Honda but at a discounted price.

I bought one for my '04 225 from boats.net last fall, don't know if I got the last one but all other dealers had said they were no longer available.
