2007 SX-A Trim Pump - One Hose Leaking

Have a 2007 SX-A with what I believe is the Gen2 Trim Pump. Pump sprung a leak on the hose connection last fall. Researched the parts over the winter and found several o-rings and little brass bushings that could be replaced. I pulled the pump apart and replace the little o-rings and the yellow ones that go between the pump body and the cover. Then I replaced the brass bushings and the o-rings on all 4 hoses before re-inserting them to the pump. Got it all back together and on the upstroke that furthest right hose still dripped oil. Way better than last fall, but still leaking. Took it apart, re-inspected/cleaned it all again, same result.

So now I need to figure out if there is a bad spot on the little metal hose connection or if there is something wrong in the pump housing that won't allow for a full seal. Thought I would check here to see if there have been similar issues with one hose continuing to leak?

Thanks in advance for ANY input or advice,

John

I have a Volvo engine with the SX drive on a 2008 bowrider. Not sure if this is your issue, but I too had a hydraulic leak. I can’t quite tell from your photo, but my SXA was a unit with the pump/reservoir mounted outside on the transom.
Can’t quite tell if my pump unit is the same as yours my boats stuffed in the barn up at the summer house.
Turned out I had to replace the whole unit and because the patent hasn’t expired, you had to buy it from the OEM $$$.
Do a Google search I those units leaking there’s a ton of information about them. Developing small cracks that cannot be fixed. Hopefully that isn’t your problem..

I think looking at it your unit is different, mine is on a 2008, but it looks like the one in this video and I ended up replacing the cover as that little white plug is what leaks.

I appreciate the views and reply. I guess I will pull that line off one last time, clean everything as best I can and give it one more shot before I order a whole new unit. Maybe I can find a slightly bigger, thicker o-ring.

When ordering O-rings, especially for high pressure applications, it’s critical to get the right fit. Also, try to find out what durometer rating is specified for the application. The higher the D number, the harder the O-ring material.
It’s possible that you replaced with a low D ring, & the pressure of a hydraulic pump is too much for it.
I hope you don’t have to order a new unit, mine wasn’t cheap.

It works and doesn't leak other than in a full up position, but I think I should change the whole assembly and be done with this. Does anyone have advice or a video on changing out the whole trim pump? I am familiar with the bolts and cover, but what about the wiring harness? How does that go through the hull and still be water tight? Any information or tips related to changing the whole pump and feeding the wires through is appreciated.

Thanks!
