2015 Honda BF225 - brief alarm

I was out the other day and noticed that my starboard motor had a little trouble starting and sounded a little weaker than normal. Ended up taking it out anyway and ran normal for about 3 hours of cruising and trolling until I got an alarm for about two seconds and it went into safe mode. I backed off the throttle a bit and the alarm went away. When I revved back up everything seemed fine with no drop in performance and I cant replicate the issue. Went down the following day to run it again and still had a little trouble starting but could not get the alarm to come back.

Any ideas what could have caused this?

Hi,
Have you checked the fuel/water separator mounted on the outboard?

You didn't say if it is an A or D model so link below is just a guess/example. See item 3
