New to me, 2016 sailfish with twin 150xl's, 260hrs. From what I've read these motors are supposed to output between 5000-5800rpms WOT, and I'm only getting around 4500, which puts me around 35mph. Honestly, I don't need to go faster, the boat gets up and out very well, even with 10 people on board. I just want to make sure my engines are working properly and to their full potential.
So a few questions, could this be:
1. A weight / underpower issue? The boat weights about 7000lbs, not sure if thats including the 200 gallons of fuel or not.
2. There is a fair amount of play in the cables, could that be an issue?
3. Is it possible there is an RPM limit imposed through the ECM?
According to Marine Max, the engine received a 300hr service before I received it, but I cannot confirm if the plugs are legitimately new or not. I have run injector cleaner but haven't done much more. The motors run great in my opinion, but when I read about max rpm's it caught my attention so I figured I'd investigate a bit.
