2018 Mercury 300 Verado - acceleration issues

I'm having issues with my new engine (2018 300 Verado pro), when I do a hull shot it seems like I'm having hesitations almost like prop wash but I've checked the hub and all is good. If I feather the throttle it will get up to speed but it's very concerning on a new engine with only 21 hours. I was diligent in the break in period and had the 20 hour service done and all checked out. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if you have ideas? It's still under warranty so I'm not concerned that much but didn't want to hassle with pulling out of the water and driving to my dealer.

What propeller are you using? Does it have the performance vent system? If yes, are the holes plugged?


FYI, WOT "hole shots" are unnecessary on a pleasure or fishing boat.

The Enertia prop has the PVS holes for performance. Are the holes plugged or open?

yes, all the holes are plugged.

This is about all you can check on your engine besides the engine oil level. Trip to the dealer is in order to determine if you have an issue or not.
