The issue with this carb started when fuel sat in it and gummed it up. It has been cleaned multiple times in an ultrasonic cleaner. But still seems to stumble a bit off of idle. Friends have said it sounds too rich like the accelerator pump is not spraying a fine enough mist. Others have said it is a 2 cylinder and you can't expect it to respond immediately.
Even when I bought the motor brand new it seemed to want to die at idle. But that was several years ago and I think it was because it was gummed up. At the time I didn't realize that even after a month the ethanol created gum deposits in the carb. So I cleaned the carb and turned up the idle speed and the issue improved. Since then the idle has been re-adjusted to spec. But it still runs on ethanol gas because that is all that is available. Now the carb gets drained after every use. And it appears clean still. But stumbles during that initial crack of the throttle. A couple years ago In an attempt to try a different path I removed the brass plug covering the idle circuit. At first just a 1/4 turn out raised the rpms and it seemed to run better. But then the carb gummed up again. Did I mention it has been ultrasonic cleaned multiple times... It appears to still be clean since its last dunk in 2024 (it now gets drained after every use). As of today the idle mixture screw had little affect on engine rpm where as before it would respond to small adjustments. Backing it out a full turn bumps the rpm up a little. But shouldn't the idle mixture screw allow the low end rpm to be adjusted quite a bit? From the factory it is screwed all the way in and I think that contributed to the initial stalling at idle. The accelerator pump jet was also clogged at one point but it is now operational and sprays at about 1/2-3/4 throttle. I am at the end of my patience and would like some encouragement on how to proceed. There are lots more old videos that I can post. But I can also film new videos of any procedures that may help narrow this down.
