318 alternator amp power surge question

I have a 29 foot dyer with a r

I have a 29 foot dyer with a rebuilt 318. Alternator was rebuilt 100 hrs ago. Alternator is 55 A. The lights surge at night (go bright and then dim constantly)Changed out the voltage regulator. Alternator appears to be charging? Any ideas?

"Bad diodes in the alternator, or a bad connection somewhere. Try isolating the lights from the alternator and see if they still dim on you.

Thanks Jeff - any way to test the diodes? I suspect everything is surging
