how easy should shifter convertor move with cable to outdrive move

"me thinks you have a hydro-me

"me thinks you have a hydro-mechanical outdrive.

Me also thinks it might not be the cable and converter.

It could be the pump in hydro pump in the drive.

What manual you working out of if it is a seloc #3400 in the right hand upper corner, i can reference the pages i would suggest you look at."

i have clymer dont hold it a

i have clymer dont hold it against me it does shift but acts like i dont have enought in one or other and it seems to change when outdrive is raised all the way up

the old shifter is very sloppy inside looks to be original so are the throttle and shift cables

might remove the lower unit and look in side what would i be looking for ?

thanks

"never ever never run the driv

"never ever never run the drive anywhere but fully down.

Your unit if it is a hydro-mechanical unit can't shift unless it's running.

Never run a stringer unless water is going to the drive.

So are you trying to shift it while it's off the motor?

Ok before you tear into the drive, hows the oil look.

You can disconnect the cable that runs from the throttle , at the shift converter and try to shift it while it is running bye moving the lower cable.

Got a pic of the shift converter.

And a side pic of the drive?

Maybe someone upgraded the drive before you got it to a fully mechanical shift.

I will be able to tell bye looking at the side pic of the drive.

never saw a clymer manual omc kind. What does it say about the hydro-mechanical unit? Does it break it down."

"Numbers are on the upper star

"Numbers are on the upper starboard side " Right side looking at the drive from behind " Run your hand over the metal, feel a metal tag?

Here is a link to the seloc manual from another site. You can d/l it for free.

Full mechanical shift is a better drive then hydro-mechanical.

Where in the world are you located?

Good luck my friend i think you will need it."
