82 150 duel fuel pump necessary?

I have a 82 non vro 150 acts like starving for fuel was going to start with pump, it has 2 pumps can i do away with both or is it necesaray? Reason i ask i have a vro delete pump didn't know if i could plug off 1 pulse line and hook it to just 1? Sorry for all questions but seems there is alot of knowledgeable people on here. Thanks guys
 
Myself I would go with the 2 pumps.----OK---Easy for me to say because I have lots of them and no need to shop for them.-----Any testing done on your pumps ?----Does it keep running when you operate the manual pump ?----Tried running with a portable tank and hose ?-----Taken the old pumps apart for some simple inspection ?---These pumps are ultra simple and reliable.-----These pumps are driven by crankcase compression and if there are issue with that a new pump won't help you.----Running with 50:1 mixed fuel ?-----Any other trouble shooting done ?
 
Racerone i just acquired this motor compression. Is good on it. It will start run for s couple seconds then dies. Pump ball will do it again.
 
Sorry----I have no idea what folks mean when they say --" good compression ".----Outline / explain in detail how you go about starting this motor.
