Hello all,
I am out of ideas on my diag flow chart....people out there with similar issues but not exactly the same. I have an idea as to what the issue may be but I would like some independent feedback.
2002 Evinrude 200 Ficht with approx 300 hours
Symptom/Issue: Boat/Engine fired right up, headed out from the dock at idle and engine cut immediately. About 5-8 min of idle run time before this happened. No throttle advancement during this whole time. Engine would not restart. At each restart attempt, it seems I get a very short combustion, almost if one of two cylinders fire. I have the Evinrude software and no reported engine codes. Drained fuel water separator, removed fuel filter and drained. Ran off aux 1 gal fuel cell and purged fuel lines. No difference. Fuel pump is working, my fuel pressure gauge read approx 50PSI of pressure. Spark plugs may have 10 hours run time, checked each lead with a timing light and all good. No fuses blown. All testing checks through the software appear fine. The engine will rev right up if I spray starting fluid into the trumpets but then die. I can also occasionally force the engine to run by keeping the starter motor engaged after combustion and with its help, the engine will idle for about 3-4 seconds before the CEL will flash and the engine will then run rough. Checked an re-checked both batteries and have excellent voltage. Checked the CPS is correctly spaced and is ohming correctly. We get about 20-22v on the 40V input to the power panel from the alternator and can confirm via the computer. I cannot get the engine to run in order to check our full 40V.
Some back story: Engine always ran well until last year. I would occasionally die and was not able to get it to turn over until I let it "chill out" for 5min+. This would happen randomly. We ultimately sent in the EMM to be examined and it was found to have the common internal temp sensor issue which was repaired. The engine was run twice during the spring with ears to ensure all ran well and it did.
Thoughts?
