battery switch with AFD

I have an Evinrude 2013 Etec 225. I want to have a 2 battery system. The battery switch with AFD is the best way to go?

As long as engine is not running when switch is turned. Better to use a VSR wired between battery's

I thought using a AFD was the ability to be able to switch from 1 to 2 or both without screwing up the alternator when running?

You don't have a alternator, you have a rectifier and I think its in the EMM
