Choosing between two 2 stroke oils

I have been reading about 2 stroke oil until my brain quit working. I have a 1986 GT 150 Johnson outboard engine. I am trying to make it last as long as possible. Would the Quicksilver help me compared to the Pennzoil for $12 a gallon more?

Quicksilver or Pennzoil

Good on you to stick with a simple 2 stroke.----Use the oil suggested by your dealer.-----If you mix it your self add 10% more oil for longer life.----No that won't foul the plugs.

Good advice. In all my outboards and motorbikes, I use Amsoil. The Amsoil injector oil is formulated differently for this specific purpose....injection. It can also be used as a pre-mix at 50:1.
I'll tell you a quick story about my 1987 Mercury 115. We were heading up the lake in the dark and didn't notice the oil leaking out. Yes it was running with NO oil going from the injection tank and into the engine. It was the first run of the season and we were running late up the river 16 mi to the portage 4500 rpm, fully loaded boat. The motor began to slow steadily until it came to a stop. We let it rest a bit and it restarted but I noticed the oil all over the water it was a pretty calm night. Shut er down. We took the 5 mi return with the 9.9 trolling motor, trailer it up and haul into the Northside Motel in Vermilion Bay Ontario. Next morning I replaced the broken oil line and we test drove in the Vermilion Bay part of Eagle Lake. Borrowed a compression gauge at Buckeye Marine a good friend of mine. All cylinders tested between 110 and 120. Yes a bit low....but we used that motor for many seasons and eventually replaced it with a 90 horsepower "Tower of Power". It's still maintains 110 to 120 PSI. Now how's that for a success story for Amsoil synthetic two-stroke? Incredible lubricants.

Quicksilver and Pennzoil (Premium Plus or XLF) are good and can be purchased at just about any Walmart. Amsoil HP Marine or Injector oil are very good, but can be hard to find on a store shelf and is a bit expensive. Evinrude XD50 is fantastic oil and some Walmart stores carry it, but is a little pricey.

I have a 1996 Intruder 150 on my Ranger bass boat and I still use the OMS fuel pump. I run Pennzoil Premium plus in my oil tank and I'm very satisfied with the performance. Quite often I'm running at WOT and the engine burns pretty clean. When I run low speed operation graphing and looking for structure I get some smoke, but it's not really overwhelming and I don't foul my plugs either.

The simple things you can do to ensure longevity of your engine are:
1) Run non-ethanol fuel ONLY
2) Ensure your ignition system is in top shape
3) Use a good quality TCW3 oil
4) Use the Correct OEM spec Champion Spark Plugs
5) Keep your carbs clean
6) Replace your water pump every 3 years

Thanks for all the replies. I bought Pennzoil XLF and mixed my first tank yesterday, We shall see how it works out. I am hoping for a cleaner prop. From recommendation at Bob is the Oil Guy I mixed to 32 to 1 ratio, I used 36 oz to 9 gal of gas. If have any thoughts about the ratio I should use I would love to hear them.

32:1 won't hurt a thing, but these engines run perfectly well with a 50:1 pre-mix. That was the mix ratio the OEM fuel pump delivered above 1/2 throttle.
