Crusader Gen6 rh rotation info ?

hi I am having a lot of trouble finding information regarding rh rotation on gen6 crusader 454 engines.
I have a gen6 454xl ( 6 bolt cast alloy timing cover) out of my 1998 trojan .
I want to know
Did they use timing gears on gen 6 engines for the rh rotation engines or did they reverse the distributor gear.
My engine builder has really messed up badly when he built my engines and the distributor is now spinning ccw. It has a single row timing chain and 3 bolt sprocket to cam.
I am unsure if he has just fitted a lh rotation cam and timing set to my rh rotation engine. He reckons he can’t remember as it was about 12 months ago and he has built a lot of engines since mine.
I can’t find any info on gen6 rh rotation and I am not sure if a set of rh rotation timing gears would fit under the 6bolt timing cover as it appears quite thin and only just clears a single row timing chain and sprocket.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Aaron

what gear was installed behind the engine in your boat?

GM never made a standard production GenVI marine big block...

They are the original engines in my 98 Trojan.
I took the motors out and sent them to get rebuilt. I’m not sure what gear they had or what the builder has done.
I took the timing cover off of the rh rotation motor and it has a single row timing chain.
The motors are 6 bolt alloy timing covers and they have “MK Vi” cast on the block near the cam sprocket.
I am having trouble loading images here.

only a gear drive can reverse rotation. all gm engines turn the dist clockwise because the dist turns the oil pump clockwise to pump oil.
In reverse rotation only the crank turns reversed direction along with a gear drive camshaft

what is the serial number for your engine in question?

For decades, that was true....Crusader, in the early/mid 2000's, had a chain driven cam in their RH engines. The cam had a reverse cut gear and the distributor's gear matched it...apparently, somebody didn't account for the reverse thrust issue as the distributors didn't last long and are now very hard to find...

You should not have a reverse rotation engine in your 1998 Trojan.

The serial number of this engine is 100379.

That maps to the 1995 build year which should be a GEN V block which came in either rotation...

Is there no rotation indication on the serial number plate?

Can you read the block code of the front of the engine?

Under the timing cover (6 bolt cover) there is a casting near the camshaft that says
MK VI, if that helps ?

I would put high confidence on the casting number...given the conflict with the serial number, I would suspect that somewhere in the past couple decades, the original engine failed and the 'new at that time' block replaced it...
