Durn Mercury made some great engines!

I have had my 1977 Mercury 500 for four years now. I go fishing at least one a week and sometimes twice. My Merc fires up everytime and runs as long as I want her to. Saturday on the Tennessee River we put on several more miles with her running wide open and never a miss or hesitation of any kind. This engine is durn near as old as I am and many times more reliable. Thank goodness for the folks that put this one together. Durn whatan engine!

Yes they are well put together.----You need a new water pump impeller about every 4 / 5 years.----Run carburetors dry when done boating , that keeps carburetors clean.
