"I have a 79 searay w/350 omc

"I have a 79 searay w/350 omc stringer.It currently has points.Can I change the distributor to elec. Or can I put an MSD ignition in.It has a shift interupter now...also..Would it be possible to install "twin"sticks{throttle,shift}Meaning I could back the throttle down low to enguage the prop? I have had so many problems with this setup!!Any ideas would be helpful."

"79 didn't have an ESA. 1982 the first year the ESA was introduced.
That said, CDI/Rapair makes an electronic ignition compatible ESA to replace the original. It's only about $75 and works great with Pertronix and other electronic systems.
Putting a pertronix setup in your current distributor is the easy way to delete points."
