"I just bought this boat 2 weeks. The dealer replaced the manifold prior to me taking possession. At any rate, on sat I went through at a slow speed a shallow sandy area. the prop did bring up some sand. I quickly raised it and got to deeper water. I did notice that at high throttle it sounded like a belt squeeling. On Sunday went out noticed the squeeling again..the water cooling function seemed to be working fine at the dock as the water was gurgling whilr the engine idled. about 2 hrs later the squeeling intensified...I decided to head back to the dock,
the squeeling got worse, I lost thrust...smoke was coming from the engine(no fire)..I then shut it down and got towed back. The dealerlooked at it today and said that sand got sucked in and blocked the cooling system, a valve seized, a hose burned up (cause of the smoke) I am a novice however I cant believe a minor incident that lasted a few seconds could do the damage a day later. Sorry for the long post but I neded to make sure I am not being taken. thanks"

"well I didnt feel comfortable repairing the engine, so the dealer took the boat back for what I paid for it and I bought a new Glastron GXL 185 with 4.3L Volvo Penta 190 hp. I hope I made the right decision. For less money I could have gotten the Glastron MX 175 with the 3.0L volvo 135 hp...your opinions would be appreciated"

"If your question has to do with the 4.3L vs 3.0L engines, I can tell you that we have a fuel injected 4.3L engine in a 2001 Chapparal 186 SSI. It's got good fuel consumption and has been extremely reliable."
